SUSPENDED ENGINE DRIVE FOR BICYCLE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: transport engineering; devices for internal combustion engines used in bicycles, mopeds, velomobiles, invalid chairs and different self-made self-propelled vehicles. SUBSTANCE: engine, fuel tank, fairing and luggage carrier are combined into compact easily detachable functionally finished engine unit which can be mounted on bicycles of any known type being secured by three clamps on front wheel fork, uniformly distributing the load on fork and protecting the legs of rider when riding near obstacles and at falling down. Inner gear is secured to front wheel rim by nuts on spoke nipples and sprocket cluster is mounted on engine output shaft to transmit change-over torque. Gear and sprockets are brought into engagement and out of engagement by means of handle which shafts the engine. Bottle shaped easily removable replaceable fuel tank is filled with fuel and is hermetically sealed at manufacturer's for retailing which makes it possible to keep bicycle ready for use in city flat. EFFECT: improved convenience in operation, possibility to convert bicycle into motorized bicycle and back, preserved reliability and performance of bicycle at pedalling. 8 cl, 11 dwg
