FIELD: microwave engineering; pasteurizing and sterilizing liquids (water, milk, juices, beer, pastes); thermic load or DC attenuator of microwave oscillators with continuous power up to 75 kV. SUBSTANCE: microwave liquid heater has metal rectangular waveguide AxB section, 1,3λ in length, where l is wavelength in free space. Low-loss dielectric tube (quartz glass) is inserted in waveguide at 45 deg. to its wide walls; tube diameter D = 0.14A; U-shaped lip on bottom wide wall of waveguide provides for matching microwave oscillator with liquid heater; voltage standing wave ratio of microwave heater is not over 1.25, attenuation in microwave heater during milk pasteurization is minimum 20 dB. More than one microwave heaters may be connected in series to increase attenuation. Rate of liquid heating is up to 350 deg/s; density of microwave power acting on liquid is up to and higher than 1000 W/cm.
