FIELD: weaving equipment. SUBSTANCE: weft brake has braking unit with flexible braking plate mounted on frame behind bobbin holder downstream of filling thread and manufactured, at least partially, from ferromagnetic material, and flat supporting plate made from nonmagnetic material and connected with electromagnet provided with electromagnet controlling device, which draws flexible plate to supporting plate. Weft brake has at least two similar braking units operating in counterphase and arranged in succession along filling thread path. Braking and supporting plates are mounted in vertical planes. Flexible plates are fixed on frame with their ends proximate to bobbin holder. Flexible plates are prestressed at their part away from supporting plate. Frame has stop fingers for holding each flexible plate, when electromagnet is off. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified construction and enhanced reliability in operation. 5 cl, 3 dwg
