FIELD: electrical engineering; multiphase synchronous machines used, for example, in adjustable-speed drives for transport. SUBSTANCE: motor has stator with even pole number Zs and multiphase winding with odd phase number, nonwound rotor with even pole number Zr, and commutating device. According to invention, even pole number Zs of stator is found from formula Zs= 2(2n+1); Zs is greater than Zr, the latter being found from formula Zp=4n, where n=2,3,4,5.... Adjacent phase windings on stator are of alternating polarity. Such proportion of stator and rotor pole number provides for alternating polarity of adjacent windings thereby making it possible to close most magnetic fluxes built up in the process over shortest possible circuit and reduces flux around back of stator core.
