FIELD: agriculture, in particular, machine for harvesting roots, preferably potato. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing boardless plowing of soil below row of roots; shaking and separating foliage from root plants. Upon soil plowing, foliage is directed to conveyor 3 to be shaken with following separation of roots. Apparatus has digging share 5, foliage shaking conveyor 3 and device 1 for separating roots from foliage. Device 1 is arranged behind digging share 5 and has forked member positioned above digging share 5. Conveyor 3 is positioned above forked member. Conveyor 3 has two endless belts, which are positioned for cooperation one with another. Pulleys 6 of conveyor 3 are positioned at an angle to horizontal plane.
