DIE SET FOR SIZING HOLLOW ARTICLES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, namely die sets for sizing hollow articles. SUBSTANCE: as-annealed castings may be significantly warped that is why they demand restoration of their geometry in die sets. At sizing process hollow thin-wall casting may be cracked. In order to prevent it die set is provided with sectorized punch. Blocks for supporting sectorized die are spring-loaded; they act upon die and provide embracement of outer contour of article by said die until penetration of sectorized punch inside article for sizing its walls. EFFECT: improved design of die set preventing cracking of hollow thin-wall articles at sizing. 2 dwg
