FIELD: engineering and geological investigations while preparing areas for development of placer deposits, detection of site congealment, karst, etc. SUBSTANCE: method uses two parallel feeding line groundings spaced one from another by distance smaller or equal to their length and connected to terminals of AC generator. Isolines tangents to shorter axis of ellipse of polarization of electric field are traced on area between line grounding with the aid of short two-electrode receiving line (search circuit). One terminal of generator is connected by two insulated wires to two opposite ends of nearest line grounding and the other terminal - to ends of second line grounding by wires positioned on different sides of plotting board, direction of section of sioline is found by minimum of voltage in search circuit, value of voltage in it is measured. Then search line is turned through right angle and voltage is measured again. Relation of longer and shorter axes of ellipse of polarization of electric field in given point of day surface is found by results of these measurements. Distribution of regions of increased and decreased electric conductance within limits of plotting board is evaluated by plans of isolines and values of above-mentioned relation.
