FIELD: detection and tracing of regions of tectonic disintegration water-permeable rocks, investigation of cave generation processes, checking state of hydraulic plants. SUBSTANCE: method involves use of three ground points which are located in observation profile and spaced by equal distance, sequential measurement of three signals, calculation of ratio of signal, which is measured using central position of second supply ground point, to sum of absolute values of signals measured using extreme positions of second supply ground point. Distribution of this ratio for profile and area of observation is used for detection of presence and position of electric discontinuities. Detected abnormal regions are used for measurement of fourth signal with two additional ground points which are located in symmetry about central one on line which is perpendicular to profile. Ratio of this signal to same sum of absolute values of signals provides vector which projection on coordinate axes gives ratio values for measurements in parallel to profile and in perpendicular to it. Position of vectors is used for precise detection of discontinuity. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 3 cl, 3 dwg
