APPARATUS FOR PELLETIZING MELT SLAG Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: processing and pelletizing metallurgical melts. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for pelletizing melt slag includes ladle with melt, vessel with water and deflecting screen arranged over said vessel and made of main and additional metallic plates. Said main plate is inclined by 25-35 degrees relative to vertical line. Additional plate is arranged over said main plate and it is inclined by 50-70 degrees relative to it. Vertical distance between lower edge of said additional plate and vessel with water and gap between above mentioned plates are equal respectively 0.5-1.0 and 0.05-0.15 of depth of said vessel. Apparatus provides explosion proofness and significant lowering (by 70-80 C) of temperature of melt slag before its contact with water. It reduces slag porosity and therefore decreases at least by three times outburst of sulfurous compounds to atmosphere. EFFECT: improved design. 2 cl, 1 dwg
