ACTIVE MATERIAL SMEARING MACHINE FOR LEAD STORAGE BATTERY PLATES Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: manufacture of lead storage batteries. SUBSTANCE: smearing machine has driving and driven shafts 1 and 2 with seamless belt 3 thrown on them, its upper side carrying hopper 4 holding smearing drum; smearing table 5 is installed under upper side of belt 3. Driving shaft 2 is set in rotary motion through chain transmission from drive 6 which also imparts rotary motion to smearing drum through chain transmission and pair of gear wheels 7. Driven and driving shafts 1 and 2, seamless belt 3, smearing table 5 together with sides 8 and 9 form smearing conveyer joined on left side along belt movement (indicated by arrows "K") tightly with three columns 10, 11, 12 of bed 13 and with bedplate 14; on right side, it is joined through brackets 15, 16 with columns 17, 18 of bed 13. Hopper 4 has lifting and turning axle 19 whose long end carries lever 20 hinged to rod 21 of power cylinder 22. Body of the latter is hinged to column 11 of bed 13. Axle 19 is mounted on bearing supports whose housings are bolted to surface of smearing table 5 and also has bearing support whose housing is placed in bedplate 14; bearing support holds spherical radial bearing and is placed in vertical slot of bedplate 14 in a spaced relation affording sliding fit between bearing and vertical surfaces of slot; lever 20 is coupled with rod 21 of power cylinder 22 through ball-and-socket joint; long end of axle 19 is terminated in gripping hook whose inner surface comes in contact with external cylindrical, conical, or semi-spherical working surface of take-off roller.
