DEVICE FOR PASTING PLATE GRIDS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

Abstract RU 2006105 C1

FIELD: manufacture of lead-acid cells. SUBSTANCE: device has two shafts 1 and 2 in bedframe embraced by endless hydrophilic band 3, hopper 4 with projection, pasting drum 5 and calibrating roll over upper horizontal span of band 3, pasting table 6 under upper span in line of outlet of hopper 4, tensioning unit of band 3 in form of shaft on rod of pneumatic cylinder 7 installed on bedframe 9, squeeze-out unit of band 3 with squeeze-out shaft 11 installed in frame 10 resting through articulated joints on bedframe 9. One of frame supports is rod 12 of hydraulic cylinder 13 on bedframe 9, other support on bedframe 9 is made in form of cross-member 14. Calibrating roll is installed with its ends in bearings for movement to adjust calibrating clearance between roll and band 3. Each of bearings is arranged in guides on walls of hopper 4. Clearance adjustment is carried out by means of screw pair. One member of screw pair is secured on bearing, other member - handwheel - is installed in projection of hopper 4. Placed between handwheel and projection is resilient link made of elastomer in form of polyurethane bushing to provide cushioning of calibrating roll relative to band 3 when pasting the grids with provision of positive tolerance in thickness. Device has also drive 8 from motor-reduction gear in form of chain between drive 8 and pasting drum 5, calibrating roll and one of shafts 2 carrying the band. Coaxial bushing is fitted over each bearing of calibrating roll supports. bushing embraces seating part of roll from inner side of bearing with slide fit, i. e with minimum tolerable clearance; joints of frame with cross-member 14 of bedframe 9 and rod 12 of hydraulic cylinder 13 are made, each, in form of relatively perpendicular U-shaped slots, one fitted in the other with side clearance in each support joint. Bearing surfaces of both slots in joint are made curvilinear. Bypass channels are made on coaxial bushings of calibrating roll bearings. Channels are made in form of wedge-shaped longitudinal slots, and they serve to remove excess paste bypassing the bearings. EFFECT: increased capacity of device owing to decrease in reject, cut down maintenance and repair time and processing shutdowns. 2 cl, 8 dwg
