FIELD: manufacture of building materials, more particularly facing ceramic tiles. SUBSTANCE: the claimed method comprises classifying tailings to recover particle size finer than 0.05 mm, mixing it with low-melting clay at 1: 0.67-0.80 ratio, and the resulting product is roasted at 1100-1170 C. The copper-nickel oil tailings comprise (wt %): 50-90 serpentine; 0.3-20.0 talc; 0.1-5.0 calcite and dolomite; 0.2-20.0 olivines, pyroxenes and amphiboles; 5.0-15.0 magnetite; 1.0-3.0 pyrrohotine, pyrite, pentlandite and chalcopyrite. The amount of initial stock used is reduced by 5-10 %. EFFECT: improved mechanical strength of the ceramic tile and lower power capacity of the process. 1 tbl
