BLANKING SCREEN FOR RADAR BEAMS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC CHARACTER Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2093935 C1

FIELD: camouflage covers for military material, such as tanks, ships, aircraft, missiles, special satellites. SUBSTANCE: blanking screen is cellular structure built up of interconnected cells in the form of regular hexahedral truncated pyramids terminating into hollow paraboloid of revolution, its wall thickness being two to four times thinner than wedge-shaped wall of pyramid. Angle of inclination of walls and their thickness are interrelated by equation l1=l2+h·ctg(90°- 2), where l1 is wall thickness at shorter base; l2 is wall thickness at longer base; h is truncated pyramid height; α is wedge angle. Cells are sealed on external side with radio transparent material. Beam blanking effect is ensured due to appropriate proportion between pyramid base size and total depth of cells. the latter is two to four times greater than pyramid base, three fourth falling within pyramid and one fourth, within paraboloid. Thermal protection is afforded by self-contained, self-tracking, and self-adjusting vacuum system incorporated in cells; to this end, cells are interconnected through holes measuring 5x6 mm in walls at pyramid top and sections are interconnected through common header with vacuum pump; common header has check valve and vacuum recorder. Pump is controlled by vacuum recorder sensors and aerospace vehicle speed recorder. EFFECT: improved screening of material against radar beams of various frequencies and various incidence angles, nonlinear radars, multifrequency signals of multiposition radars, reduced effectiveness of radars with respect to selection of echo signals from moving and motionless targets. 4 cl, 2 dwg
