FIELD: hydrometallurgy of rare metals. SUBSTANCE: invention focuses on extraction of lithium from aluminum chloride solutions obtained after hydrochloric acid treatment of aluminum-lithium alloy wastes and various-composition lithium aluminates. According to invention, extraction is performed by tributyl phosphate followed by reextraction, in which process solutions being extracted are those of aluminum chloride obtained after HCl dissolving of aluminum-containing materials using mixture of iron-containing tributyl phosphate (20-30 g/l Fe) with 5-10% carboxylic acid, and for reextraction, 4-6 N HCl solution is used.
