FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: cutting is provided with a cutter having front and side cutting edges. The cutter is set in reciprocation and rotation about its vertical axis. Plate 9 is set in intermittent rotation. The cutter is set so that the front cutting edge is perpendicular to the direction of the reciprocation and is inclined to the vertical axis at an angle of 1.5-4°. The dividing machine has a cutter received in cutter holder 6. The cutter is coupled with a rotation mechanism which is made up as master cam 15 received in mandrel 13. The working surface of the master cam is inclined to the direction of movement of the cutter at an angle equal to the angle by which it rotates. Tie 20 is mounted for permitting interaction by its one end with working surface of master cam 15. The other end of the tie is coupled with cutter holder 6. Mandrel 13 is mounted for permitting rotation about the vertical axis. The angle of inclination of the working surface of the master cam is defined by a relationship presented in the invention description. EFFECT: simplified method. 3 cl, 4 dwg
