FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: process for production of vanadium containing agglomerate comprises preparing spent hydroconversion catalyst in the presence of oxidizer till sulfur content therein is reduced to 2 % by weight or lower, grinding spent catalyst to particle size suitable for use, mixing spent catalyst with iron mineral and binding material to form vanadium containing agglomerate and solidifying vanadium containing agglomerate by using pyrromaterial. The agglomerates thus obtained represent structure of solid iron oxide and vanadium pentaoxide solution. Process for making vanadium containing steel alloys from such agglomerates comprises crushing vanadium containing agglomerate, mixing crushed vanadium containing agglomerate with standard crushed iron agglomerate to obtain mixed crushed agglomerate and melting mixed crushed agglomerate under reducing conditions to form vanadium containing steel alloy.
