FIELD: preparing methylated tertiary amines. SUBSTANCE: claimed method comprises reacting hexamethylene tetraamine with different nitrated precursors in the presence of hydrogen and hydrogenation catalyst. Reaction is very selective, and methylation is carried out only on amine and nitrile nitrogens. The claimed method makes it possible to obtain easily methylated amines which correspond to the initial derivatives such as fatty mono-or polyamines, aminoalcohols, etheramines, nitriles and aminonitriles.
