FIELD: environmental control; metal-working and chemical industries. SUBSTANCE: zinc oxide is added to acid effluents resulting from washing electrodeposition process equipment in amount 10-20% of sum total of all metals (calculated on basis of oxide contents) contained in effluents. Next phosphoric acid is added in amount 1.1-1.2 of stoichiometrically required amount for formation of zinc phosphate, followed by adjusting pH of reaction mixture at 3-7, by filtering, washing, drying and calcination of residue. Final product is corrosion-resistant pigment having light-green, green and beige colors. Its hiding power is 40-85 g/sq.m, its oil absorption 16-30. EFFECT: proposed method not only provides effective environmental control, but also gives commercial product, viz! pigment. 3 cl, 2 tbl
