FIELD: carbon black production. SUBSTANCE: carbon black for polymer compositions consists of aggregates of coalesced 110-600 carbon particles with coalescence rate ranged from 0.005 to 0.025. Method of preparing carbon black includes: burning up fuel with air in combustion chamber; constricting combustion product flow in convergent tube of mixing nozzle with gradient of flow constriction rate ranged from 0.5 to 3.0 m/s mm; expanding combustion product flow with rate gradient 0.15 to 0.4 m/s mm in diffuser of mixing nozzle; introducing carbon-containing raw material into the flow; primarily hardening carbon black-gas products 0.006-0.009 s later with 0.6-1 kg of water per 1 kg of raw material followed by finally cooling products. Reactor contains consecutively and coaxially installed combustion chamber with means to burn up fuel with air; mixing nozzle in the form of divergent-convergent tube with convergent part parameters: length (0.5-2)D and angle of restriction toward longitudinal axis 25 to 63 deg.; divergent (diffuser) part parameters: length (1.5-4)D and angle of expansion toward longitudinal axis 7 to 13 deg. , where D is diameter of nick. Reactor further has reaction chamber where water injectors are installed at distance from raw material introduction point equal to (9-14)D; hardening nozzles; and carbon black discharge unit. EFFECT: improved strength characteristics of polymer compositions and increased coloring capacity of carbon black. 3 cl, 1 dwg, 4 tbl
