FIELD: hydrogenation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: platinum/rhenium catalyst on alumina carrier is burned together with sodium hydroxide at 900-950 C in reductive medium which is provided by carbon-containing agent, e.g activated carbon. Cake is dissolved in dilute sulfuric acid at elevated temperature for 1.5-2 h. Platinum and rhenium are concentrated in slurry separated from cake solution.
