FIELD: precise instrumentation engineering; applicable in investigation of oil, gas and geophysical wells by moving downhole instrument in well in continuous or point mode, in determination of well direction and inclination with simultaneous measurement of temperature inside downhole instrument and angle of turning of its body relative to well axis. SUBSTANCE: method and inclinometer are based on gyroscopic stabilizer whose platform carries rigidly connected acceleration measuring devices with angular velocity measuring devices on the basis of two-degree-of-freedom gyro. In mode of setting, platform is rotated at constant angular velocity and upon processing of signal of angular velocity measuring device, the initial orientation of axes of sensitivity of acceleration measuring devices in direction is determined. In motion of downhole instrument, direction and inclination are determined by recording signals of acceleration measuring devices. On the basis of recorded signals, at each step of computing device operation, matrix of orientation is formed in form of product of matrix orientation increment by matrix of orientation at the previous step. Orientation matrix is constructed as function of orientation angles which are determined at each step by the signal of acceleration measuring devices. Obtained information is processed and transmitted by the unit of digital processing which, by each analog input, consists on connected in series voltage-frequency converters and reversible counters, and by digital input/output, has transceiver of successive code. Unit of digital processing is controlled by built-in single-crystal microcomputer with four programmed two-directional ports. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 5 cl, 4 dwg
