FIELD: open-pit excavation and construction jobs, in particular, mining of placer mineral deposits. SUBSTANCE: hydraulic giant is arranged in face with the help of captive balloon set at definite height from the level of upper platform of open-pit bench. Captive balloon holds ball-and-socket joint connecting water conduit with barrel of hydraulic giant. System of water conduits is arranged from hydraulic giant to water reservoir. After building up of the required water head at the nozzle of giant, rock mass is cut by pressure jet by cutting-in hollows, both, on bench slope and on its upper platform, depending on the degree of intensity of rock mass disintegration. Jet direction is remotely controlled by manipulating of hinged barrel in vertical and horizontal planes with the help of hoisting and swinging mechanisms. Hydraulic giant plant is moved as face advances with reduction of height of balloon and increase of angle formed by hydraulic giant barrel and water conduit. EFFECT: higher productivity of hydraulic mining with provision of efficient and safety mining of rocks by high benches. 1 dwg
