FIELD: thermal power engineering. SUBSTANCE: load characteristics (dependences of working fluid pressure under (and above) piston from piston position) are determined at "n" different fixed useful loads on piston. At every fixed useful load, beginning with total one, piston is moved continuously in forward and backward directions within full stroke "n" times at different speeds from "i" (minimum) to "j" (maximum) including the stepped (with stops) displacement of piston preceding the minimum speed. In addition, deviations of control slide valve, working fluid pressure in form of it and steam pressure before and after steam valves are measured. Cause and place of occurrence of factors which reduce serviceability of hydraulic booster and steam distribution controls are determined by analyzing the obtained load characteristics and parameters measured additionally.
