FIELD: steelmaking. SUBSTANCE: electrical conditions in arc electric furnace operated within frequency range from 2 to 10 Hz are controlled by way of measuring electromechanical oscillations in "electrode-electrode-holder" system in horizontal plane and for each electrode, in the last time interval Δt = 40 to 60 s, dynamic of oscillation amplitude behavior is continuously analyzed. Difference between angle of incidence of straight line α, approximating time-dependence of amplitude within Δt range, and 25 deg is estimated. When condition α≥ 25 deg. is held for at least one electrode, smelting is interrupted and non-conducting charge is removed. EFFECT: facilitated process control. 2 dwg
