METHOD FOR MANUFACTURE OF HOLLOW PARTS WITH FLANGE AND DEVICE FOR ITS EMBODIMENT Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, in particular, manufacture of hollow articles with flange by drawing of sheet metal. SUBSTANCE: hollow parts with flange are made with the help of hydraulic device with clamp by preliminary drawing of conical semifinished item and its subsequent deforming into finished article by upsetting. Simultaneously with upsetting the semifinished item is subjected to reduction by flexible medium applied to semifinished item on the side of clamp to limit the possibility of expansion by outer diameter. The device includes punch, clamp, pusher and drawing die which has flexible insert and its working surface has section of conical surface and hollow located behind insert. Hollow is confined by sides with cylindrical surface with diameter equalling the diameter of clamp exterior surface, and in bottom part it is confined by horizontal surface made flush with end face of pusher. Hollow accommodates flexible insert which generating line facing the die symmetry axis is inclined to base of bottom part of hollow at an angle equalling the taper angle of the conical section.
