FIELD: dyeing of natural and synthetic substrates. SUBSTANCE: novel mono- and disazo-derivatives on the base of 2,4,6-triaminotoluene having formula given in specification are proposed as azo dyes. In formula R¹ is H, R² is arylazo- or R¹= R² is arylazo where aryl represents phenyl, naphthyl residue being substituted or unsubstituted in aromatic cycle by C₁-C₄-alkyl group, O-alkyl, halogen, nitro-, sulfo-, arylazo group. 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene is affected by reduction, it is followed by interaction of thus prepared 2,4,6-triaminotoluene with diazo compound having formula R-ArN ≡ N where R is H, C₁-C₄-alkyl, O-alkyl, halogen, nitro-, sulfo-, arylazo group.
