FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, masonry of steel melting furnaces with employment of cooled constructions. SUBSTANCE: steel melting furnace arch has alternating sections of refractory masonry and cooled members installed in the masonry without any gap at a distance of 0.25 of its thickness from the working surface. The height of the cooled member makes up 0.4 of the masonry thickness. The width of the refractory masonry up (6... 9)b, where b - width of the cooled member equal to (0.2...0.3) of its height. The cooled member may be made of a closed roll-formed section, or of a pipe flattened to the size of member width b, or of pipes of the same diameter arranged one above another and connected on both sides by metal plates. The intertubular space is filled with material, having a thermal conductivity at least of 5 W/m K. EFFECT: enhanced arch firmness at minimum additional power consumption. 4 cl, 3 dwg
