ALKALINE BATTERY PLATE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2106043 C1

FIELD: storage batteries. SUBSTANCE: plate has active material cake, current lead, and external shell of porous metal such as nickel. Thickness makes up 0.005-0.2 of cake thickness; shell porosity is 1.0-8.0 of that of cake; pore size of cake is maximum 1.5 of particle size of active material in cake. Shell may be separated from cake by layer of ion-conducting material, including porous material. Current lead may be separated from shell by insulator. Shell has mechanical and/or electric contact with active material cake. Shell may be provided with gas-outlet hole. Active material crumbling and creeping is made impossible in plate. EFFECT: improved stability of discharge characteristics. 11 cl, 2 dwg
