FIELD: veterinary science, veterinary pharmacology. SUBSTANCE: fodder or medicinal composition consists of one or several biologically active substances covered with protective layer based upon chitosan. Protective layer contains chitosan salt at the amount of, weight%: 1-10 (in chitosan equivalents), the rest is 90-99 fatty substance or their mixture at melting point above 45 C. Covering compound contains, weight %: 1.6-6.0 chitosan salt, 45.0-97.0 fatty substance or the mixture of fatty substances at melting point above 50 C, 0.5-50.0 fatty substance or the mixture of fatty substances at melting point below 25 C. Active principle of composition is chosen among methionine and/or lysine. Composition is designed as granules of 0.6-2.5 mm diameter. Method to obtain fodder composition for ruminants includes obtaining of chitosan-based water emulsion. Moreover, at the first stage water solution of chitosan salt is added to fatty substance at melting point below 25 C, then at mixing fatty substance or the mixture of fatty substances at melting point above 50 C are added, after that during the second stage obtained emulsion is pulverized for granules of active principle. The given fodder composition is stable in a rumen and releases active substance in digestive tract in postrumen department. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 8 cl, 8 tbl
