FIELD: check of car braking devices. SUBSTANCE: thermal deformation hsth of structural member (for example of brake drum) is determined by values of measured formation hs and elastic deformation hsel calculated with due regard for structural member material dependent from temperature of modulus of elasticity E. Average temperature sought for is determined by value hsth from dependence of deformation from temperature obtained preliminarily under conditions of brake pressure absence. Device intended for realization of given method has structural member deformation sensor which can be made as sensor of angle of turn of brake drum cam and pressure sensor in brake system.
