FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has idle choke which has terminal for connection of positive line 8 from single-polarity pulse source and terminal for connection of lamp electrode. Negative terminal of by-pass diode is connected to output of idle choke. Positive terminal of by-pass diode is connected to terminal for connection of lamp electrode and negative line for source. In addition device has starter which is connected to terminals for connection of lamp electrodes and has at least transistor, resistor and connection element. Resistor is inserted between base of transistor and terminal of idle choke. Connection element is inserted between collector and transistor and terminal for connection of electrode. Emitter is connected to terminal of electrode. Connection element is designed as parallel circuit of capacitor and choke or resistor which is connected in parallel to one of these elements. Device heats electrodes and starts lamp or starts lamp with non-heated electrodes. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 5 cl, 2 dwg
