FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device is manufactured in the form network filter, full wave rectifier and half-bridge inverter connected in series. Inverter incorporates two capacitors and two transistor keys which triggering is performed with the help of RS circuit and threshold element. Firing of lamp occurs by means of oscillatory circuit composed of capacitor placed in parallel to lamp electrodes and choke. Device has protection circuit manufactured on two transistors, five resistors, capacitor, diode and relay which makes it possible to increase reliability of protection of device from access of consumption current caused by current inrushes in supply system, by defect or failure in load, by generation of through current in inverter and so forth.
