FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for controlled passing of people, particularly visitors to stadiums, entertainment shows and other objects where it is necessary to count number of passing people and regulate their flow. Turnstile has stationary vertical axle, rotor with body mounted on axle for possible rotation and blades secured on body, lock for stopping of rotor, mechanism for ensuring unidirectional rotation of rotor, and guarding which embraces rotor with formation of income and outcome passages. Body is made with widening towards its base. Guarding in zone of rotation of blades is made in the form of two cylindrical surfaces. Cylindrical surface of smaller diameter is at bottom, cylindrical surface of larger diameter is at top. Both surfaces are connected together by adapter cone section. Lock is made in the form of strip attached to top end of axle, pivotally mounted on plate, electromagnet for displacement of strip, and pins secured on rotor and interacting with strip.
