FIELD: production of synthetic diamonds. SUBSTANCE: diamond-containing feed charge is subjected to two-step treatment with aqueous solution of nitric acid, namely: first with 50-99-% solution at 80-180 C, and then with 10-40-% solution at 220-280 C. Process is carried out under elevated pressure and it permits to carry out process in liquid phase. Content of recovered diamonds in purified product is 98.2-98.3, that of oxidized forms of carbon is 0.7-0.8%, and that of incombustible residue is 0.9-1.0%.
