FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: in order to remove hardness salts from water in metallurgy and chemical industry, water is passed through cationite filters. Exhausted filters are regenerated by liquid organic wastes containing detergents with general formula CnH2nCOOX where n ≤ 17 and X = sodium, potassium, or hydrogen. EFFECT: essentially lowered hardness of water and reduced treatment cost. 1 tbl
