FIELD: organic chemistry and technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry of aromatic chloroorganic compounds, namely to a method of synthesis of 1,1-dichloro-2,2-(4-chlorophenyl)-ethylene. Hydrogen chloride is eliminated from 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis-(4-chlorophenyl)-ethane by crystalline alkali at molar ratio 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis-(4-chlorophenyl)- -ethane : alkali = 1:(1.5-1.75) and process is carried out in the presence of catalyst benzyltriethylammonium chloride. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
