FIELD: electrolytic coatings. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalyzed, diluted with water after protonation, cationic varnish binders containing bismuth salts of alifatic hydroxycarboxylic acids, especially those of lactic and dimethylolpropionic acids. Cathodically deposited varnishes for immersion varnishing possess excellent deposition characteristics and film quality. So use of lead and tin compounds as catalysts is unnecessary. EFFECT: improved quality of coatings and improved environmental condition. 11 cl, 3 tbl
