FIELD: alloy technology. SUBSTANCE: method consists in selective electrochemical dissolution of waste in acidic media to transfer tungsten into insoluble precipitate and cobalt into solution. Electrolysis is carried out at 20-25 C using reversible alternate industrial-frequency current. As electrolyte, 5-6 M nitric acid is utilized. Using reversible current enables performing virtually complete oxidation of tungsten carbide into tungstic acid and eliminates negative effects associated with anode polarization and electrode passivation. In addition, electrolysis procedure is considerably simplified. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 4 tbl
