Radiotelephone system 100 is designed so that radiotelephone 101 functions only to receive intermittent pager information from remote transceiver 103 in monitoring mode of operation. Input power controller circuit 200 uses economically efficient low-power and low-frequency generator 237 together with hardware and software to turn off part of radiotelephone 101 when the latter receives information from remote transceiver 103.
