FIELD: mining; applicable in supporting of shield face in coal mining on thick steep seams by shield mining system. SUBSTANCE: shield cover includes arched load-carrying shell and anchor props whose ends not connected with arched shell are connected to common base so that upper central angle between props is less than 180 deg. Lower props are additionally interconnected by flexible linkage. Base beam along the strike may be made rigid over the length of one shield unit, and metal gates in ridge part of arch support are installed over the entire length of shield cover.
