FIELD: geophysical studies. SUBSTANCE: in agreement with method capacitor is placed in close contact with earth and short voltage pulse is applied to this capacitor to transmit pulse of electromagnetic radiation having wide frequency range into earth. In preferable variant of make part of electromagnetic radiation that propagates through subsurface to display this subsurface is detected and processed. Dimension L of this capacitor should be sufficiently small to meet inequality Re[kL]<1, where k is wave number in this earth configuration of each frequency component of radiation transmitted into earth. In preferable variant of make voltage pulse applied to this transmitting capacitor has components of frequencies of wide range starting from frequencies below 1.0 MHz up to frequencies above 100.0 MHz. Singular frequency components of this detected electromagnetic radiation processed for display of this subsurface have frequency changing within range from about 500.0 kHz up to 25.0 Mhz.
