FIELD: computer engineering, in particular, bus LAN topology for transmission of data packets through single channel. SUBSTANCE: method involves for each workstation checking channel state and initiating transmission, if channel is free, assigning initial priority to each packet before transmission, measuring duration of transmission without conflicts and calculation of current priority using equation $$$, where $$$ is current packet priority, $$$ is initial packet priority; k is weight of time parameter; $$$ is duration of transmission without conflicts in i-th workstation which participates in conflict. This value is used for calculation of order of packet transmission. In case of subsequent packet transmission, its initial priority is equal to its current priority value. EFFECT: increased efficiency of LAN operations due to using priorities of packets in network in case of collision. 2 cl, 7 dwg
