FIELD: varnish-and dye industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pearl pigments based on scales of mica, graphite, and micaceous iron ore treated by acidic salts of metals selected from the group including: Al, Ti, Zr, Fe, Ni, etc. Alkaline solution of sodium aluminate and silicate is added to pearl pigment suspension at 20 to 90 C in amount 1 to 20 wt % with regard to pigment and at ratio of the two reagents (0.5-2.0):(0.5-20) calculated on conversion to aluminum and silicon oxides. Reagent solution is pretreated by ether-type surfactants in amount 0.05 to 5.0 wt % relative to pigment. In particular, nonylphenol polyoxyalkyleneglycol ether or mixture of polyoxyalkyleneglycol ethers of glycerol monooleate are used. Resultant pigments exhibit 2.5 times higher light and atmosphere resistance and water-soluble salt content is reduced by 0.2-0.3%. EFFECT: improved working characteristic s of products. 5 cl, 1 tbl
