SUBSTANCE: particles of a titanium dioxide-based pigment have a dense shell silicon dioxide with embedded metal atoms. The dense shell of silicon dioxide is applied in form of several layers, and the inner layer essentially does not contain metal atoms. Said dense shell of silicon dioxide can contain tin, zirconium or titanium or mixture thereof. To obtain a titanium dioxide-based pigment whose particles contain a dense shell of silicon dioxide with embedded metal atoms, components containing silicon and metals are added to the suspension successively.
EFFECT: invention increases weather resistance of the titanium dioxide based pigment while maintaining high optical properties.
