FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to regenerating deactivated coked hydrocarbon-conversion catalysts. Method consists in burning away coke from catalyst brought in contact with circulating oxygen-containing gas heated before regeneration zone and cooled after this zone, in which operation heat from gas being cooled is partially transferred to gas being heated. Oxygen-containing gas is replenished with oxygen and excess gas is withdrawn from the circuit. Process is controlled on the basis of temperature value and displacement of temperature front in the catalyst layer. Temperature is maintained at the level not higher than 615 C by varying flow of replenishing gas. Above- mentioned heat transfer is started when temperature front reaches middle part of catalyst layer. Before coke-burning process is terminated, oxygen-containing gas flow is closed and hydrocarbon stream is directed into catalytic reactor. According to invention, cooling of oxygen-containing gas after regeneration zone and replenishment of circulating gas are accomplished with atmosphere air. Volume ratio of replenishing and circulating gases ranges from 1:5 to 1:20. Catalyst-regeneration apparatus contains heating heat exchanger, catalytic reactor, and cooling heat exchanger connected by replenishment pipelines into a circuit, and also oxygen replenishment and excess gas-discharge pipes. Cooling heat exchanger is connected to heating pipeline provided with three-way valve. Reactor with catalyst is equipped by a series of temperature sensors connected by controlling linkages with three-way valve and control valve disposed on oxygen replenishment pipe.
