METHOD OF MAKING ORNAMENTS ON STONE SURFACE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: making ornaments on stone surfaces; may be used in construction, architecture and souvenirs industry. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of stone, cutting of picture contour by laser beam and heat treatment of removed part of stone surface. In this case, heat treatment with air supply at pressure to region of treatment is carried out by scanning with laser beam of surface reduced by contour as compared with removed part by 1-1.5 diameters of heat spot in two stages: with power density exceeding the threshold of stone collapse by 10-50%, and then with power density ensuring destruction of stone to preset depth. Final contour of picture is cut after removal of worked part of stone. EFFECT: simplified process and higher quality of manufactured articles due to production of side walls of protrusions and depressions with smooth surfaces and without cracks. 1 dwg
