FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: mechanism for controlling movement of reed between closed "rigid" beating position and open "soft" beating position on machine has slay, reed pivotally attached on slay and connected with its lower end to cams through connecting rods. Cams are positioned on shaft mounted on slay for rotation. Gear is rigidly fixed on shaft for engagement with toothed sector loosely mounted on slay rocking spindle. Toothed sector is pivotally connected with lower end of slay by means of two levers having common pivot joint allowing one lever to rotate relative to other lever. Toothed sector is coupled with rocking lever pivotally mounted on and spring-biased to frame so as to rotate relative to cams and "rigid" beating position of slay. Rocking lever is connected with device for changing over slay beating up mode. Two levers connecting toothed sector with slay are pivotally coupled through their common pivot joint with connecting pin, whose other end is pivotally connected through pivot hinge with one end of rocking lever. When rocking lever rests on machine frame, pivot hinge is positioned on slay rocking axis. EFFECT: increased efficiency by eliminating gaps affecting operation of machine and improved quality of towel fabric. 2 dwg
