METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC EXAMINATION OF CATTLE UDDER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: veterinary medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves letting electric current pass in series through four lobes of the udder under examination during 2-3 s per each lobe. The magnitude of current passed is used for judging if there is or there is no inflammation process. The current being 1-50 mcA as large, inflammation process in the udder is considered not to be the case. The case of inflammation process is characterized by current passing through an udder lobe to be within the boundaries of 60-100 mcA. The current magnitude measured, when passing through the udder, being between 51-59 mcA characterizes latent processes developing in the udder. Contact part of device electrodes is manufactured as current-conducting plate which ends are bent to meet each other with gap formed between them and ion-exchange washer wetted with physiological salt solution to be placed in the gap space. EFFECT: excluded traumatic accidents to personnel due to animal defense response. 1 tbl
