METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING SUSPENSIONS Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2114698 C1

FIELD: industrial physico-chemical processes. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to separating fine suspensions and is designed for use in mining industry, when regenerating drilling fluids, in chemical, food, and other industries. Suspension is separated under constant pressure while exciting low-frequency vibrations in separation zone. Suspension is fed in descending flow and is separated on two filtration surfaces. Low-frequency vibrations are excited in in- phase mode from two sides perpendicularly to peripheral layers of suspension flow. Separation of suspension is performed in flat vertical stream or in the stream symmetrically expanding downward at angle from 0 to 120 deg. When suspension is separated on filtration surfaces, sands are subjected to cleaning in expanding gravitational sedimentation chamber. Apparatus consists of suspension-supply device, filtrate and sandsТ removal facilities and includes casing separated into chambers enclosing filtration surfaces and pistons to excite low-frequency vibrations. Filtration surface consists of two members each installed in pair with piston in parallel to it. Filtration surfaces of each pair face each other. Apparatus is also provided with gravitational sedimentation chamber with sedimentation plates and overflow facilities having height-adjustable connecting pipes, whereas suspension-supply device, separation and sedimentation chambers are staked upon one another to enable straight-flow descending suspension stream. Suspension-supply device is constructed for directing suspension between pairs of filtration surfaces and pistons. Pistons for regenerating filtration surfaces have staggered conical holes. EFFECT: increased productivity and improved product separation quality. 7 cl, 3 dwg
