FIELD: metal working. SUBSTANCE: longitudinal grooves and transverse helical groove are made in milling cutter body. Transverse helical groove houses cutting plates secured by means of attachment members and resting on supporting T-shaped inserts. Projection of supporting inserts is arranged in transverse helical groove, and shoulders are capable of interacting with body wall formed by longitudinal groove. Longitudinal grooves are made sloping so that slope angle provides for position of cutting plates with zero rear angle at required rear angle relative to milling cutter body. Helical groove or segment grooves are made in middle of transverse helical groove for attachment members in the form of two-arm lever. One arm of lever contacts fastening screw, and catch at end of other arm contacts cutting plate hole. Attachment member has projection in center which rests upon side wall of hole positioned inside helical groove for attachment members in parallel to bearing surface of cutting plate. Compensator is installed in the above-indicated hole with deepening and is made as cylindrical compression spring of flexible polymeric material. EFFECT: higher accuracy of working. 3 cl, 3 dwg
